Think about your favorite team or club. Every person on the team has a special role to help everyone succeed!
Some people are called to build a family team at home, while others are called to be a shepherd for the whole parish family. Neither job is better than the other—they are two different ways to help build up God's Kingdom!

[ HOLY MATRIMONY ] [ HOLY ORDERS ]
A husband and wife promise A priest promises his whole
to love each other and heart to Jesus to lead,
raise a holy family. feed, and guide the Church.
These two special sacraments are called the Sacraments of Vocation:
Holy Matrimony (Marriage): When a man and a woman get married in the Church, they make a lifelong promise before God. Their marriage is a living picture of how much Jesus loves His Church—giving everything He has to protect and care for His bride!
Holy Orders (Priesthood): When a man becomes a priest, he gives his whole heart to Jesus and the Church family. He doesn't get married so he can spend all his time preaching, giving us the Sacraments, and being a spiritual father to everyone in his parish.
Helping Us Get to Heaven: Both sacraments are designed to be selfless! Whether raising children in a home or taking care of souls in a church, both paths teach us how to give up our own selfishness to help others reach Heaven.
💬 Talk About It
How does a mom and dad loving each other show us a small picture of how much Jesus loves us?
Why do you think a priest gives up having his own home and family so he can be a father to the whole parish?
